Elon Musk buying Twitter likely played a big role in the ability of people to share more freely and Donald Trump winning the election. He put a tremendous amount on the line and likely lost money in the deal by overpaying to fight for free speech.

That also provoked the ire of the Democrats and the media against Musk. Because now there was a platform that wasn’t controlled by the liberal narrative.

Now they’re even more disturbed because Musk was speaking out about the funding battle in Congress.

Not only does he have every right to comment, but that’s also the job that Trump assigned him — as co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

But as we reported,  Anthony Scaramucci — the guy who spent about 15 minutes in the Trump administration and has milked that to comment on the liberal media networks as some kind of authority for years– gave sort of a threat/warning to Elon.

🚨NEW: Anthony Scaramucci warns Elon to “stick to business.”

“He’s just got to be very, very careful because he’s making enemies that he doesn’t realize.”

“Lay off the gas on politics a little bit because these people could hurt you.”

“He’s just got to be very, very careful because he’s making enemies that he doesn’t realize,” he said about Musk.

“Lay off the gas on politics a little bit because these people could hurt you. There’s no need for you to get hurt. You’re doing so well in your life.”

That sounds a bit like the “warning” that Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) gave to Trump several years ago about angering the intelligence agencies.

Shades of Chuck Schumer:

“You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you. Even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this.” pic.twitter.com/6CWwE04xjs

It’s more than a little concerning that you have folks talking this way, that they think there is something to fear here for speaking your mind or saying something the left doesn’t like. They think Musk is stepping out of line. No, it’s this kind of thought that is out of line, that anyone thinks it’s cool that intelligence or bureaucrats should have such power to suppress dissent.

But the thing about Elon is, he really isn’t interested in power; he’s a visionary, as he’s shown with his companies. He’s focused on results and if you try to attack him he just becomes more determined, as we’ve seen in the Twitter/X fight. He hasn’t been cowed by any threats. The left is approaching him wrongly thinking he cares about the same things they do. So yes, he does have “Potomac fever” — if Potomac fever means that he believes he’s going to achieve results. He’s always done it, and he wants to do it with DOGE. He sees the path that Javier Milei has set in Argentina and knows it can be done with the proper will.

Elon’s response to Scaramucci shows exactly what I’m talking about. It’s full of wit and proper derision. His first thought isn’t to be cowed, but instead to laugh.

Can he do the fandango like in that Queen song?

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 24, 2024

That references the Queen line, “Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango?”

Not only is it a take-off on Scaramucci’s name, but it’s also perhaps teasing his clownish behavior.

Elon is bright, so I think he gets the dangers, but once again, it says a lot about his quality as a person that this doesn’t stop him.
