Indian National Lok Dal president and former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala died in Gurugram after a cardiac arrest on Friday (December 20), party spokesperson told new agency PTI.

He was 89 years old.

A five-time chief minister of Haryana and former deputy prime minister Devi Lal’s son Chautala suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Gurugram. He was immediately rushed to hospital but could not be saved, a party spokesperson said.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini termed Chautala’s death as irreparable loss for the country and the state.
