Judge Paige Whitaker has apologized after using the n-word during court proceedings. The judge has been presiding over the ongoing YSL trial. Whitaker recently sentenced Young Thug to probation after he accepted a non-negotiated plea deal.

See What The YSL Trial Judge Said

Judge Whitaker was reading a document in an evidentiary hearing for the remaining two YSL defendants in court on Friday (Nov. 8). The content included social media posts prosecutors want to use as evidence. A prosecutor first read the post, and the YSL trial judge re-read it aloud to express her thoughts. “I gotta do it for boo, these n****s lacking,” the post said, and Judge Whitaker read it exactly that why forgetting to censor the n-word. She continued on, trying to explain what she understood the message to mean. “I mean you can say that means they have the guns on them, but that would be quite a stretch given the context in which it comes up,” Paige Whitaker said.

After the court took a break, the YSL judge circled back to what she had said to clarify her intention. She apologized and informed the court that it was her first time reading the document.

“…I hope that that was not offensive to anyone. It was certainly not meant to be offensive to anyone. I do not use that word, and it was merely I should’ve been looking first before I said whatever I said out loud to edit, if there were any offensive words. So, I wanna apologize on the record for that,”  the YSL trial judge said.

What’s Up With Young Thug?

As mentioned, the YSL trial judge recently released Thugger on a 15-year probation deal on Oct. 31. He pled guilty to six counts of gang-related activity and no contest to one count of leading a criminal street gang and one count of conspiracy to violate the RICO act. She released the rapper from jail and sentenced him to five years in prison with time served. If he violates his probation terms, he faces 20 years in prison.

He has since released several social media messages, and T.I. shared of them kicking it together, seemingly cooking up new music.
