High-quality diamonds have often been the go-to engagement gift for the wealthy among us, and the rich-and-famous.
They might not have a virtually flawless 910-carat stone like the one found in a southern African mine last month. Nonetheless, their gems bring the bling to the ring. Here are three:
Elizabeth Taylor

Saying that the two-time Academy Award best actress winner Elizabeth Taylor adored diamond jewelry is like saying the eight-times-married Hollywood icon loved weddings.
The Hollywood glamour queen, who died in 2011 even wrote a book about her many treasures, Elizabeth Taylor: My Love Affair with Jewelry.
One of her favorites was the 33.19-carat diamond ring that actor and two-time spouse Richard Burton gave her in 1968. Previously known as the Krupp diamond, it was subsequently named for Taylor, who wore it constantly and made it world famous.

The diamond is classified as a D color, potentially internally flawless stone, according to Christie’s, the auction house that sold Taylor’s gems months after her death. The Elizabeth Taylor Diamond sold for more than $8.8 million, setting a record price-per-carat of $265,697, a Christie’s announcement reported.

What kind of diamond ring becomes a music and entertainment superstar like Beyoncé?
She and hip-hop music and business titan Jay-Z were married in 2008. The stone was an 18-carat flawless diamond, worth more than $5 million, People magazine reported, citing frequent jeweler-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz.

Beyonce publicly displayed the sparkler with a split shank in Oct. 2008, as she walked the red carpet at the Fashion Rocks at Radio City Music Hall event in New York City, the magazine reported.
Melania Trump

When Donald Trump married Melania Knauss in 2005, the future U.S. president bought the first-lady-to-be a 12-carat emerald-cut diamond engagement ring with an estimated $1 million value, Forbes magazine reported.
He got the ring in the New York City flagship store of famed London-based jewelry company Graff, founded by fellow billionaire Laurence Graff.
“Laurence is a spectacular jeweler,” Trump told Forbes for the 2007 report. “The quality of his stones, the quality of the service and the reputation are the top.”
For their 10th wedding anniversary in 2015, Trump gave his wife an even larger 25-carat diamond ring, Vogue magazine reported. Melania Trump displayed the ring in the First Lady’s official White House portrait, the report said.
