A passenger bit a flight attendant and attacked others as they zip-tied and duct taped her on a recent American Airlines flight, authorities say.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning near the end of the trip from Dallas to Charlotte, according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court.
Charlene Harriott rose from her seat and ran toward the front of the plane as she ignored flight attendants’ instructions, according to an FBI agent.
Flight attendants restrained her in the first-class section, but she bit one and kicked another. At least three flight attendants were assaulted.

She became “more aggressive and physically violent toward the flight crew” as they tried to subdue her with the zip ties and duct tape, according to the complaint obtained by the Washington Post.
The plane was just 200 feet off the ground when the 36-year-old Harriott began acting strangely, the newspaper reported.
Charlene Harriott is being held in North Carolina after authorities say she attacked flight attendants on a flight from Dallas to Charlotte.

Flight attendants had visible injuries, including the one who was bitten in the arm, according to the Washington Post.
The suspect’s motives for trying to get the cockpit were not known, the newspaper reported.

Harriott faces a federal charge of interfering with a flight crew. She was being held in a Charlotte jail on multiple assault and battery charges, according to the Observer.
