A lawyer affiliated with President-elect Donald Trump shared a threatening message directed toward New York Attorney General Letitia James while speaking on a podcast on Thursday (Nov. 7).

According to HuffPost, Mike Davis is a Republican lawyer whose name is being floated in conversations as Trump’s potential attorney general when he takes office. The Independent noted Davis is a former Supreme Court clerk and Senate aide, and that in October, Trump declared, “We want him in a very high capacity.”

“I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump… listen here, sweetheart, we’re not messing around this time and we will put your fatass in prison for conspiracy against rights.” pic.twitter.com/FfGGxzsaq6

Davis had words for James who successfully sued Trump for committing business fraud, winning a $454 million civil judgment against him and the Trump Organization. Trump has filed to appeal the decision, the HuffPost reported.

“Let me just say this to big Tish James: I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term,” Davis said on Benny Johnson’s Benny Show podcast, per HuffPost. “Because, listen here, sweetheart: We’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat a** in prison for conspiracy against rights, and I promise you that.”

He continued to rant, “So, think long and hard before you want to violate President Trump‘s constitutional rights or any other American‘s constitutional rights,” adding, “It’s not gonna happen again.”

After Trump was declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election, James offered a kind compliment on his victory but also indicated that she and her office are not backing down.

“I congratulate the president-elect, Donald Trump,” James said in a statement alongside New York Governor Kathy Hochul. “And if possible, we will work with his administration. But we will not compromise our values or our integrity or our principles”

Her full statement continued as follows:

“As Attorney General, I will always stand up to protect New Yorkers and fight for our rights and values. My office has been preparing for a potential second Trump Administration, and I am ready to do everything in my power to ensure our state and nation do not go backwards. During his first term, we stood up for the rule of law and defended against abuses of power and federal efforts to harm New Yorkers. Together with Governor Hochul, our partners in state and local government, and my colleague attorneys general from throughout the nation, we will work each and every day to defend Americans, no matter what this new administration throws at us. We are ready to fight back again.”
