Last week, we mentioned Path of Exile 2‘s Xbox release and how it would become a free-to-play title eventually, but for now it was launching as an early access title. As it turns out, that early access launch has proven extremely popular!

If we look at the UK and US ‘Top Paid’ charts on the Xbox Store, Path of Exile is currently in the #4 spot in the UK and #2 in the US, putting it alongside the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and the heavily discounted Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. In other words, it’s clearly selling well on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S right now.

It obviously helps that the game has been receiving a good reception as well. There’s no Metacritic rating yet, but the reviews have been largely positive so far, while the Steam verdict is “Very Positive” based on over 40,000 ratings. Path of Exile 2 also has a 4/5 rating on the Xbox Store, which can be notoriously difficult for big games to score highly on.

IGN (8/10): “Everything from the refined fundamental action-RPG gameplay to the surprisingly fleshed-out endgame has seen major improvements, and the half of the story we’ve got so far shows plenty of promise, even if the setting feels a little generic in the realm of dark fantasy worlds.”

For those who are interested in checking out Path of Exile 2 in early access, the cheapest way to do so is with the “Early Access Supporter Packs” version on the Xbox Store which is available for £24.99 / $29.99. As mentioned, the game will go free-to-play eventually, but it sounds like that won’t happen until at least the midway point of 2025.
