Actors Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are engaged. The couple revealed the news at Sunday night’s Ebony Power 100 Gala event in Los Angeles, with Good showing off her diamond engagement ring on the red carpet.
In an interview with E! News at the event, the couple said the Ebony Power 100 Gala had a special significance for them as it was where they first in 2022. Majors, 35, and Good, 43, have been dating since May 2023, two months after the Lovecraft Country actor was arrested over an alleged assault against ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
Good publicly stood by Majors as he was later charged and stood trial for assaulting Jabbari in November 2023. The Shazam! actress was a near constant presence in court during the three-week trial. In December, Majors was found guilty of one count of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment, and in April this year he was sentenced to a 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program.
After critically acclaimed turns in Da 5 Bloods (2020), The Harder They Fall (2021), Devotion (2022), Majors was seen as a rising star in Hollywood, and, prior to his conviction, was set to be a central figure of phase six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring as the main villain Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Disney fired Majors after he was convicted and retooled phase six.
Searchlight’s bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams, which saw Majors receive rave reviews and significant awards buzz when it bowed at Sundance in 2023, was also shelved after the actor’s legal troubles. The film was picked up by Briarcliff for distribution and may yet hit theaters next year.
In June, Majors landed his first major role since his conviction, joining the cast of the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless from filmmaker Martin Villeneuve.
Good most recently starred in Tyler Perry’s Divorce in the Black, and has also starred in the films Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too. She is currently starring in the Prime Video comedy series Harlem. Good was previously married to entertainment executive and motivational speaker DeVon Franklin from 2012 to 2022.
