Don’t spill your ink
- Bendy and the Ink Machine is returning to mobile with Bendy: Lone Wolf
- It takes the format set by Boris and the Dark Survival and seemingly expands on it
- Arriving on iOS and Android, as well as Switch and Steam, in 2025
If you were around in the mid-2010s you probably remember how quirky survival horror Bendy and the Ink Machine took the world by storm. The mixture of the episodic set up, rubber hose-style enemies and environments, alongside an intriguing storyline, made it extremely popular. And now it’s set to make a return, including on mobile!
Bendy: Lone Wolf debuted with a reveal trailer (linked below) that shows off plenty of gameplay in a top-down, isometric style. You seemingly play as Boris the Wolf, one of the many cartoon characters brought to life by the titular Ink Machine, as he tries to survive the dangers of Joey Drew Studios.
The original Bendy and the Ink Machine is available on mobile, as well as spin-off Nightmare Run and Boris and the Dark Survival, which Lone Wolf seemingly takes a lot of elements from. Although it’s not yet clear whether Lone Wolf is some sort of definitive version of Dark Survival, or its own new take.
Inked off
In either case, Bendy and the Ink Machine has remained an extremely popular franchise over the years since it was first released. Widely seen as one of the first major wave of mascot horror games alongside arguably the most iconic, Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Just how well Bendy: Lone Wolf holds up, I think, will depend on what form it takes. As I said this isn’t the first foray that the Bendy series has taken into isometric survival horror starring the titular wolf. But given that this is also coming to Steam and Switch, I would hazard a guess this will take the lessons learnt from the first mobile release for something even more terrifying.
In the meantime, are you wondering whether Bendy and the Ink Machine is worth a go? Why not dig into what our App Army thought of Bendy to find out?
