The rapper was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound last week.
OG Maco‘s family has publicly addressed news of his hospitalization following a reported suicide attempt by the rapper.
On Monday (Dec. 16), the Atlanta rep’s family issued an official statement on social media regarding his current condition, revealing that he remains in critical condition, but that his state has improved.
“We want to inform OG Maco’s fans, friends and supporters that he is currently in critical but stable condition,” the statement reads.
“He is receiving the best possible care, and we are staying hopeful as he continues to fight. At this time, we kindly ask that you respect our privacy, but if you would like to send any messages or have anything you wish to get to the family, please reach out via DM.”
The statement clarified that any reports other than those shared on his official social media regarding his health are invalid.
“Please note, all official updates regarding OG Maco’s health will come directly from his official social media accounts. This will be the only source for valid information.”
News of OG Maco’s hospitilization first surfaced last Thursday (Dec. 12), when the rapper was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Day’s later, Poppa Perc, OG Maco’s manager, would express his gratitude for the rapper’s fans outpouring their support and well-wishes for the hitmaker.
“We all wanna thank you for praying for @ogxmaco,” Perc wrote in a post on social media on Sunday (Dec. 15). “He’s still fighting and he’s in a more stable condition and it’s better than what he was 2 nights ago. We won’t know to much until Monday for now please keep praying.”
Breaking onto the scene in 2014 with his hit single, “U Guessed It,” OG Maco inked a deal with Quality Control as one of the label’s key additions during its rise to prominence. The rapper, who later parted ways with QC, released multiple EPs and mixtapes over the past decade, as well as his debut studio album, The God Of Rage, in 2021.
