Build to the stars
- SimCity Buildit is set to celebrate its tenth anniversary with major new additions
- The space specialisation lets you add buildings like the Launchpad and Astronaut Training Center
- Visual refreshes are being made, and you can step back in time with the new Memory Lane Mayor’s Pass
SimCity Buildit is getting a major update to celebrate its tenth anniversary. And I know what you’re thinking, “What, is it some sort of special building? Boooring.” In a way, you’d be right, but I don’t think anybody expects SimCity Buildit to go to space to celebrate!
Okay, let’s temper expectations a little. You’re not actually building in space, but you will have access to new space specialisations to fill your city with. Starting at level 40 and beyond you can unlock new structures such as the Space HQ, Astronaut Training Center and Launchpad. A hotly-requested feature, it’s sure to give you diehard SimCity fans out there something new to work towards.
And that’s not all, you can also take a trip back in time using the new Mayor’s Pass season, Memory Lane, which unlocks some of the most popular buildings from past seasons. There are also some refreshed visuals and graphical upgrades, and the requisite holiday-themed event as things get frosty from December 25th to January 7th.
Simsational
I admit, I’m pleasantly surprised that SimCity Buildit has been going so long. Launching way back during what many consider the nadir of the Sims franchise under EA, it seems to have endured quite a long while and is still adding features to this day. For loyal fans, I’m sure the addition of features like the space specialisation, and the visual upgrades, are welcome rewards for sticking with SimCity Buildit.
